Only Love Remains
I owe you nothing, that’s what you owe me
We’ve lived our lives from duty, now my heart says
let it be
The thing I called ‘love’ was giving based on fear
I believed I owed you something
Though what it was, was never clear
You owe me nothing, the same as I owe you
We were full of words like ‘selfish’, that would
never do
Needing to be loved, to be seen to be
Wanting something from you
Spelled the end for me
I owe you nothing, that’s not to be unkind
Its just my heart has spoken and it’s overruled my
mind
I believed you were the source of love until I
found a well
That said there’s only giving
And it woke me from my spell
I owe you noting, that’s what you owe me
Until I understand this I’m not free to be
Oh I can give from duty, from fear, or even pain
But you see I owe you nothing
So only love remains
